Towards monitoring the quality of Mediterranean inshore waters
Euromed  -  Monday, 30 June 2008
MYTILOS - MYTIMED: 2 Euro-Mediterranean projects based on the same principle: using mussels as bioaccumulators to monitor chemical contamination in the Mediterranean.

Whereas MYTILOS (2004-2007) would focus on Western Mediterranean, MYTIMED (2006-2008) would concentrate on Eastern Mediterranean.

Both projects have allowed the creation of links between partners, the setting up of a lasting alert network and knowledge transfer towards Southern partners. The biosensors system will further sustainable development of the coastline, enhance food safety, encourage sustainable tourism...

MYTIMED partners: Toulon Var Technologies, Ifremer (France), ICRAM, PSTS S.c.p.a (Italy), ANEM S.A., HCMR (Greece), INSTM (Tunisia), HIMR (Syrie), CNSM (Lebanon), INRH, Ministry of Regional development, Water and Environment, University Ibn Zohr in Agadir (Morocco). Observer : MEDPOL.
