After two years of work, two French regions (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes) and three Italian regions (Liguria, Piemonte and the Aosta Valley) have signed an agreement over the creation of the Euroregion Alps-Mediterranean. Thematic working groups have been set up: accessibility and transport, innovation and research, environment and risk prevention, quality of life and sustainable development, culture and tourism, education and training. From January 1st 2008 on, a European territorial cooperation group based in Brussels will run the Euroregion and gather twice a year (in Brussels and in the Euroregion). Marseille is to host the next conference of the region presidents in Spring 2008.
